Imminency

What is the doctrinal teaching called "imminency?" Some people probably never have heard of this word in a theological manner which summarizes a position which is controversial, but which is regarded by a few religious organizations as essential and even fundamental to basic beliefs about the return of Jesus. In summary, "imminency" is a belief that the rescue of believers from the earth at the Rapture by the Messiah could happen at any time, even in the next minute or so. The teaching is often explained as a belief that there do not exist any unfulfilled prophecies which need to occur before the Rapture.

Some religious organizations do not agree with imminency, while others require acceptance of it for membership or even for ministerial credentials. Rejection of imminency by some organizations is grounds for expulsion or dismissal.

What is the biblical basis for and against imminency? What are the "pros" and "cons" of this theological belief?
The Planetary Exodus examines important biblical issues relating to the teaching of imminency.
